Is Solar Energy a wise choice for my home?
Worked with data report 'Energy Use in GB Domestic Buildings 2021' released by Smart Energy Research Lab. The team and I inducted data analysis with Python focused on how the household solar panel can save gas and electricity for dwellings. Our findings suggested that solar panel does not always save energy for households. Its efficiency can be significantly differentiated from geography and floor area.
To help people get a clearer idea of whether their houses are suitable for installing solar panels, we visualised the amount of energy saved through a mocked interactive website. By transferring the saved energy into 'with this amount of energy how much can it light a room/ charge my electric car/heat my room?' we want to help our audiences make wise choices while evaluating their dwelling conditions.

Brief
The project has an open brief. With self-chosen approaches and techniques, the aim is to create a piece that communicates the data 'Energy Use in GB Domestic Buildings 2021' released by Smart Energy Research Lab.
Iterations
The initial iteration was designed to create a smooth scroll from top to bottom to ask for information about dwellings. After discussion with the group, we decided to enhance the interaction with a stronger sense of involvement and personalisation. Like a game experience for visitors to choose their settings step by step. Therefore, the final prototype was separated into single pages, by clicking the suitable choices to generate personalised solutions.
